Jake’s Take
I just so happened to stumble across this one while hunting for houses not too far back and immediately raised it as a location that I wanted to visit for our next Burger Bounce. It’s a nice establishment, though it was louder than normal due to what was possibly a bridal shower happening in back? But a sleep Saturday afternoon with minimal traffic and sun shining bright through the indows at the far end of the restaurant is better than what I could have hoped for. Not even the server that seemed to be walking in circles around th eatery desperately looking for dirty plates to grab could distract me. Well, it did to a certain degree, or else I wouldn’t have brought it up.
For our appetizer up front, we engaged with the “Nashville in a Basket” offer that they had. I mean, on the menu it had one of those spicy flame symbols next to it, so we had to give things a go! Waffle fries and breaded chicken chunks coated in fresh white queso, pickles, and something called comeback sauce is what awaited us when it arrived at our table. The sauce was what gave it that kick I assume, though I couldn’t really place what all made UP the sauce itself. The chicken was good for what little I got of it, but I mostly just ended up with gobs of fries and cheese. Now, they were certainly good gobs. I’ve never known a gob to be particularly rotten. But where was the chicken? Perhaps all on the other side of the dish from myself.
It’s been a hot minute since I had a burger with an egg on it, so I ate up their Tot & Egg burger. A finely cooked patty, medium the way I like it, topped with mashed up tater tots, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg to boot. I’ve learned my lesson from past outings and asked for the bacon that usually comes along removed, and it was all the greater for it. My biggest issue while talking and eating sides is letting my burger get cold accidentally, but this lasted for quite a while. Just as crispy and warm as when it first came out, and the egg was hardly runny at all (a plus in my book). I was a fan with all components of today’s meal, and maybe it being a nice day was just the capper on top of everything, but this was my favorite place we’ve eaten at in a long while. While not really for ambience, at least for all other factors involved.
My Take
I ordered the veggie burger on this visit, and overall, it was a solid choice. Not the best veggie burger I’ve ever had, but definitely not the worst either. It came with a toasted wheat roll, lettuce, onion, pickle, and comeback sauce. It added a nice layer of flavor and made the burger more interesting without overpowering everything else.
Instead of fries, I chose the vegetable medley as my side. Vegetable sides can be hit or miss, depending on seasoning, and this one landed comfortably in the middle. It was cooked well and had good flavor… again, not my favorite, but something I’d happily eat again.
The atmosphere at The Corner Pub & Grill was really nice overall. It was bright, welcoming, and felt like a comfortable place to settle in for lunch. There was a group gathering in the back that made things a bit louder than expected, but even with that, the space itself had a relaxed, inviting feel. All in all, it was an enjoyable stop and another good addition to our Burger Bounce list.
