One More Bite for 2025

One of my favorite parts of Burger Bounce is getting to see these places through Jacob’s eyes. We eat the same food, sit at the same table, but somehow walk away with completely different takeaways… and that’s part of the fun. So as always, I’ll let him go first and share his take on our most recent stop.

Jake’s Take

Going a bit closer to my new location, we decided to eat at Millwood’s this time around, and I’m certainly glad we did. We definitely arrived early enough, walking in a few minutes after opening and there wasn’t a soul in sight. And this was a large establishment, it felt cavernous as we walked around looking for a server. Eventually we found one, she said she was the only server working that day, and the bar hadn’t yet been opened. Certainly, makes sense, being a “sports bar and grill”, the cliental packed in droves by the time we had left. Though it sure felt strange being basically the only people in a rather large and well put restaurant together. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a sports bar with that many televisions on the wall, and of that high level of quality either! There seems to be a lot of love poured into that place.

Although advertised on their menu as “Wings and Things”, these can easily serve as appetizers, and so that’s exactly what we decided to do. We got an item a little different than normal, ordering their Toasted Jalapeno Ravioli, for something a tad spicy. I’ve never had toasted ravioli without meat, I don’t believe, so this was unique for me. It’s just melted cheese with bits of jalapeno in it, and wow oh wow, it was excellent. I couldn’t get enough of the stuff, just cheese and bread. But you know, that’s kind of my whole thing (and part of my problem when it comes to eating too much food), so I’m not complaining!

We both ended up getting the same burger, the “Tijuana Crunch Smashed Burger”, so that’s easily remembered enough. It’s a spicy (what else) Mexican variety of a burger with Pico de Gallo, mexi ranch, jalapenos (what, more of those?!), and pepperjack cheese. The only distinction is that I decided to leave the Pico off, since I can never be certain whether or not lime juice has been involved. It was pretty good, there was probably a bit too much of the ranch for my liking, and getting jalapeno bits with seeds still intact following the toasted ravioli app should’ve been a non-starter, but planning ahead has never really been my strong suit. Overall, a quality burger, I got it medium, so it was juicy enough, and the pepperjack cheese melted just well enough that it wasn’t falling off in gobs or anything.

My Take

From the moment we walked into Millwood’s Sports Bar & Grill, I knew this was my kind of place. It was cozy without feeling small, festive without being over the top, and honestly… just cute! The holiday decorations were a fun touch, and with TVs everywhere you looked, it felt impossible not to find a game to watch while enjoying your food and conversation if that’s what you like.

We started with the jalapeño ravioli, and wow! So good! The flavor was spot on, with just enough kick to make it interesting without overpowering everything else. Basically, a cheesy jalapeño filling tucked inside a fried ravioli… which is really all I need in life sometimes.

For the main event, we both ordered the Tijuana Jalapeño Crunch Burger. Jacob skipped the pico de gallo; I didn’t. Mine was definitely spicy, but in a way that worked. Everything blended together really well… the heat, the flavors, the crunch, and it felt like a burger that actually knew what it was trying to be. I ordered mine medium well, well… because I can!

And I have to talk about the fries, because they deserve it. They were crunchy without tasting stale (which is a very real problem with crunchy fries), and the fresh cracked pepper added just enough interest without taking over. Simple, but done right.

Overall, this was one of those Burger Bounce stops that was just good! I would love to go back there again! Great food and a fun atmosphere! It felt like a perfect way to wrap up our last Burger Bounce of 2025. A really good meal and a really good moment shared.

And honestly, that’s what this whole thing has always been about.

With Love,

Mindy
