Burger Bounce: Back to a Favorite

There are just some places you don’t get tired of going back to.

This time, Jacob and I found ourselves at Concord Grill and I’ll be honest, I was excited before we even walked in. This has become one of those Burger Bounce spots for me. The kind where you already know you’re going to find something good… you just have to decide what. And that’s part of the fun.

They have so many burger options to choose from, plus specials that always make it a little harder (in a good way) to decide. This time, I went with the Mexican burger topped with jalapeños, cheddar cheese, and salsa. It was so good.

Just enough spice to notice, but not so much that it overpowered everything else. The flavor was balanced, and exactly what I was hoping for when I ordered it. And the fries? Consistently right every single time. Crispy and seasoned just enough. The kind you keep reaching for without even thinking about it.

This visit didn’t feel like trying something new or checking a place off a list. It felt familiar and easy. Like slipping into something comfortable that you already know fits.

And sometimes, that’s even better than discovering something new.

Jake’s take:

It’s been quite a long time since we stopped by the Concord Grill, and quite a while since we put out an earnest blog post about visiting the locale as well. It was a warm enough day, and we got there right at opening, so it wasn’t crowded and I didn’t mind eating inside. Though I was a little disappointed we weren’t seated at our usual table. Oh well, at the very least I could indulge in some food that has a pretty great track record with the two of us!

For our appetizer: nothing. Yes, nothing! We actually discussed beforehand what we would end up getting, as we usually attempt something new whenever we do one of these, and we even ran it up to a vote (though how well that would’ve worked in the event of a tie with only two people voting is anyone’s guess). We were totally going to dig into their mini tacos. But then the waitress came around and… oops! We totally forgot. For me it was fine, ultimately, which I’ll get into later. But it feels a little weird to not be writing about an appetizer in one of these when we had every opportunity to get one. Oh well, next time for certain.

This time around, I went ahead and ordered their Flash Fried Spinach Burger. They have an appetizer that’s just the Flash Fried Spinach part, so I figured if we were opting for mini tacos instead, I’d get the spinach on the burger. Obviously, the app fell through, but this came in just fine. Something that I didn’t really account for is just how slick and oily this thing would end up being. First of all, it DOES have fried spinach, which already adds to the grease levels on this burger. But we’ve also got the gooey mozzarella cheese, the juicy mushrooms running down the patties, and even garlic butter everywhere for good measure. It was a good burger for sure, don’t get me wrong. It even came with grilled tomatoes, of which I’m not a fan and forgot to have removed, but I didn’t mind them at all. The big problem was just all the oil; this thing was a heavy burger that I regret eating all in one sitting. I went through six napkins just to clear everything off of my fingers. And no, don’t worry, I didn’t lick the plate.

Another Burger Bounce, another memory made… and a reminder that some places just never miss.

With love,

Mindy
